April 24th, 2011 by John / Filed in home, lifestyle

Fine Porcelaine since 1818

 MEHUN-SUR-YEVRE – Home of Pillivuyt since 1853

In 1818 Jean Louis Richard Pillivuyt recognized the immense advantages porcelain had over earthenware and other more porous material. He set about inventing his own unique combination of raw materials to create the highest quality culinary porcelain. His efforts were inspired and supported by artisan and craftsmen. For nearly three centuries his sucessors have dedicated their labour to fulfilling his vision. The factory is now owned by its employees, near the town of Mehun-sur-Yevre, in the heart of France.

Today Pillivuyt isrecognized as France’s leading porcelain manufacturer, wll known for its superb quality and design. Producing over 800 items the line has an unparaleled reputation for durability. With contributions of chefs and artists to ye design process form and  finction are well combined to make this the most versitile, practical and beautiful culinary porcelain in the international market today.

COLLETION SANCERRE

Blog Azzurro “C” Claus Porto

April 20th, 2011 by John / Filed in apothecary, home

In 1887, Portugal’s  first soap and perfume manufacturer was founded by German expatriots Ferdinand Claus and George Ph. Schwedder in Oporto. Prior to the pairs arrival, imported soaps were a privilege of the wealthy. Cleverly, these new products were given foreign names to appeal to this new Portuguese clientele.

During the 20th century as there were changes in ownership, Claus Porto continued to grow and these  fine  soaps became more and more popular. Mid-century, the company created its own lithoraphy, including hand painted lables, and exports to foreign markets

” Bathroom Chic”  In 1994 in partnership with the American Co. LAFCO , Ach.Brito/Claus Porto introduced new lines of specialty products in the US, Canaa, and England. These high quality soaps and other fine goods are still produced using ime honored methods, almost entirely by hand. Claus Porto offers true works of art, hand wrapped in its archival collection of Art Deco paper.

Claus Porto Soaps are milled seven times, expelling air, resulting in a creamy texture, lasting aroma and longer resistance. Individually laminated, coined in mechanical metal machines, each bar is aged 2-3 weeks, guaranteeing a consistent and even bar. Traditionally made and finished by hand, these equisite soaps evoke nostalgia. With tradition new appraches enhance Claus Porto: Vegetal basis and ingredients such as karite, shea butter, coconut essential oil, mango and pistachio. All Claus Porto products are100% biodegradable and are not tested on animals.
